High school football fans in the state of Utah have been waiting for this matchup since last year's thrilling Semifinal battle. Just a sophomore, Alex Kuresa led the Mustangs back from a 31-13 deficit passing for 331 yards and 4 touchdowns but the comeback fell short in a 37-35 defeat and the T-birds went on to win their 3rd straight 4A title. The game was a classic and a year later we have a rematch.

This time, it's the Mustangs who are slight favorites in this game but these two very talented teams are evenly matched. The only losses for both teams came against ranked 5A teams. Both teams feature high powered and balanced offenses that average 40 points a game. Defensively both teams are outstanding.

Timpview holds their opponents to just 14 points per game; Mountain Crest gives up just 15 per game. Both teams have very good quarterbacks. Kuresa has completed 68 percent of his passes for 3,100 yards and an impressive 36 touchdowns, which leads all quarterbacks in 4A. 12 of those touchdown passes have been caught by Tyler Weese who has 1,000 yards receiving. Timpview quarterback Trevor Brown has thrown for 19 touchdowns through the air and found the end zone 11 times on the ground.

This is the third straight semifinal meeting between these two powerhouse programs and they have combined to win the last 5 state titles in 4A. This game has the makings of another classic.
