A little-advertised law since 1961 allows you to make a tax-deductible contribution to the US Debt. You can pay with a check along with your Federal income tax return. Or you can send a check directly to the Bureau of Public Debt, which is within the Treasury Department. But wait, coming soon, you can pay online through PayPal. Officials say the contributions reduce the amount of money the government has to borrow to finance its debt. CNN is reporting most people give a small amount -- under 100 dollars. The government collected 3.1 million dollars this fiscal year, so only 12 trillion to go!
