I think most people feel a bit apprehensive about visiting the dentist. While it has certainly become easier and less painful than in years past, most people still don't anticipate a dentist appointment with much pleasure.

With the rise of sedation dentistry, visiting the dentist is now easier than ever. Any patients who are nervous about their visit can receive a safe dose of anesthetics and wake up once it's all over. Dr. Benjamin Griffiths is one of a collection of dentists around the state to provide this service at his practice, Mapleton Family Dentistry. Along with sedation dentistry, the facility offers comprehensive general and family dentistry, including cosmetic treatments for adults and children.

When he was younger, Dr. Griffiths always dreamed of owning his own business. Becoming a dentist seemed like a good way to do so. He attended dental school at the University of Iowa and completed advanced training in general and sedation dentistry at Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho. He worked for three other dental offices before finally deciding to start his own company.

Dr. Griffiths and his wife, Jaime, both lived in Mapleton while completing their undergrad degrees at BYU. As they were looking for an ideal location for the dental office, they decided Mapleton fit their criteria. They formed a partnership to open the facility with Dr. Griffiths doing the dental work and Jaime running the business office.

Mapleton Family Dentistry was the first dental office to open in the small city. Thus far, the practice has been well received. Dr. Griffiths built his beautiful state-of-the-art facility from the ground up, leaving enough room to expand if necessary, which he has already done once. The relaxed office was designed to resemble someone's family room, with comfortable couches, a television and plenty of snacks that don't damage teeth. Dr. Griffiths hopes to eventually grow to the point that he can bring another dentist on board, but for now he remains focused on continuing to offer friendly service.
