At 6:45 we talked with ABC polling director Gary Langer about new poll numbers being released this morning. According to ABC News and the Washington Post, only 20% identify themselves as Republicans. That is the lowest percentage in 26 years. 54% say the country is going in the wrong direction, but last year at this time 90% said the country was going in the wrong direction making this year's number an improvement. At 8:45 we talked with former Speaker of The House Newt Gingrich about his new book To Try Men's Souls, A Novel of George Washington and the Fight for American Freedom. The book is about General Washington and the pivotal crossing of the Delaware on the march to Trenton that may have been the decisive battle of the Revolutionary War. He also talked about poll numbers showing Republicans are at 20% according to ABC News and the Washington Post, where the new Newt Gingrich will come from and what bold move will get the country back on track.
