Let me say first of all that Rio is probably a great city to host the Summer Olympics in 2016. South America has never hosted an Olympic games so it's long over due and with Brazil being a newly emerging economic power, they surely deserve it. That being said, Chicago's elimination in the very first round of voting was nothing more that I.O.C. politics at it's best. I think it's quite clearly a slap in the face to the U.S. and a calculated embarrassment for President Obama because their bribery racket was exposed by the Salt Lake winter games. New York's bid in 2005 never made it past the first round either. They hate that we spoiled their little fiefdom. I'm not speaking out of spite here, just venting some frustrations over the all too obvious. I will be very surprised to see the games return to the U.S. until there are people with more integrity governing what should be the most honorable organization in sports, the Olympics.
