LOS ANGELES, Jan 12, 2007 (UPI via COMTEX) -- TV producer Steve Krantz, who teamed with his romance novelist wife on a series of U.S. miniseries, has died from pneumonia at the age of 83.

The New York Times said Krantz had worked with his wife, Judith, on several miniseries based on her romance novels prior to his death on Jan. 4 in Los Angeles.

A writer in his own regard, Krantz beat his famous wife to the punch by creating two steamy romance novels before they even met.

Yet it was his collaboration with his wife, whose novels has been translated into more than 50 languages and has sold more than 80 million copies, that truly generated his fame.

A staunch defender of his wife's works, Krantz brought her signature "sex and shopping" novels to television.

The Times said Krantz is survived by his wife; two sons, Nicholas and Tony; a sister, Sunny Ornish, and two grandchildren.
