Press ReleaseSALT LAKE CITY - The Westminster men's basketball team released its schedule for the 2009-10 season Friday. The Griffins have put together one of the toughest schedules in recent years. They will face 14 teams that had a winning record last season and six that advanced to either the NAIA Division I or Division II National Tournament.

The season opens with in-state rival Dixie State coming to the Behnken Field House on Friday, November 6. The weekend concludes with the Griffins taking on Warner Pacific on Saturday, November 7. The Griffins will also welcome College of Idaho, Westmont, and St. Thomas to the Behnken Field House for non-conference contests.

Westminster will face Fresno Pacific and Concordia (Calif.) in Las Vegas, Nevada, for their first games away from home. Fresno was the Golden State Athletic Conference champions while Concordia was the runner-up last season. Westminster will also face Northwest (Wash.), Notre Dame College, and Wisconsin-Platteville, among others away from Salt Lake City this season.

The Frontier Conference should again be extremely competitive this year. The conference put three teams into the national tournament, including eventual national champion Rocky Mountain College. Montana State-Northern made the tournament and Carroll sat just outside with their 20-7 record in 2008-09. In total, five teams from the Frontier had winning records last season and four won at least 20 games.
