I just loved interviewing Maria Bardini yesterday. She's so talented -- as a grandma she went back to school and found an amazing talent for sculpture. SLCC put out a call for all artists/artisans to sculpt their Bruin mascot, and she won the bid. She's doing it for free. She's so nice and sweet, and told me all about going to Italy to study from the people who studied from the people all the way back to Michaelangelo. She has a few hours every week where she's able to leave her full-time job on campus and sculpt the mascot. As you know I'm a radio reporter so I work in words and sound. But lately we've been asked to find more video opportunities for ksl.com. I was given a tiny Flip video camera. So I flipped it out yesterday and taped Maria working on the sculpture. I'm not perfect, but I've been told people love that sort of Youtube, cell phone, flip camera type of stuff. However, this comment poppped up in the boards for my story: Hay, KSL stop by the student production center and pick up a new camera man that guys sucks. Thank you. Thank you very much.
