Bronco Mendenhall and his coaches are in the final stages of setting the 105-man roster for fall camp. The last remaining open spots (somewhere around ten, by my count) will go to walk-ons, some of whom will have been recommended to Mendenhall by his senior leaders.
The next couple of days will also solidify a handful of positional changes. Some of the more notable switches have already been reported, but there are a few more that should become concrete by late tomorrow. I might have details on the last couple of switches before practices start Saturday.

It was only last year that Army pulled out of a series that would have brought the Black Knights and BYU Cougars together in 2011 and 2012. This week, Army has done a deal to face Oklahoma, in 2018 and 2020.

Answer: Two; both individual records by Robbie Bosco.

One bad quarter--make that one really, really bad quarter--spelled doom for Brazil's piecemeal national basketball team last night in Argentina. Facing a team that included Houston Rocket Luis Scola (game-high 21 points), the Brazilians lost 83-48 to the host Argentinians.
Argentina led only 28-27 at halftime, but a 33-5 third quarter advantage sealed the deal for the home side.
BYU's Jonathan Tavernari finally had a quiet night after an exrtemely impressive last month of international play, scoring only two points. Former Tulsa forward Guilherme Teichmann led Brazil with 11 points.
Tavernari's presence with this watered-down version of the national team was designed to assist the inexperienced youngsters with some scoring punch, but clearly it was a team without enough weapons around him--certainly not enough to counter a solid Argentina squad.
JT now rejoins his senior "A" teammates in Rio de Janeiro for a two-day, four-team tournament. It will be the last tourney before Brazil departs later in the month for Puerto Rico, site of the Tournament of the Americas, starting August 26th.

BYU's Charles Abouo made the final 12-man roster for Cote d'Ivoire's squad at the "Afrobasket" African Championship in Libya, and his team is facing Nigeria this morning (today's game started at 4:00pm, Libya time; 8:00am, Mountain time).
Check back for updates on the game and Abouo's performance.

Final: Nigeria wins 93-84. Abouo finishes with 2 pts (0/1 3pfg, 2/2 ft) and 3 reb in 6 mp (of the 11 CIV players who saw the floor, Abouo played the fewest minutes). Cote d'Ivoire faces Libya tomorrow morning at 11:00am, MT.
