NEW YORK, Dec 18, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Actress Deborah Lew is set to join the long-running Broadway production of "Beauty and the Beast" as the Disney musical's female lead.
Playbill.com reported that beginning Sunday, Lew will take over the lrole of Belle in the production from Sarah Uriarte Berry, who will conclude her run as Belle on Friday.
That same night will also represent the last performance from singer Donny Osmond, who had been playing Gaston in the musical and will be replaced by Stephen R. Buntrock.
The Robert Jess Roth-directed musical will mark the most recent opportunity for Lew, who only recently made her Broadway debut in a revival of "The Threepenny Opera."
Buntrock has been featured in several touring productions such as "The Phantom of the Opera" and received a Joseph Jefferson nomination for his role in "Miss Saigon."
