BYU released two items of interest this afternoon; the first deals with plans to open a select number of football camp practices to the viewing public, while the the other nails down BYU's upcoming basketball schedule.

First, the football news, from BYU Football Media Relations Director Brett Pyne:

PROVO, Utah (July 31, 2009) -- Cougar fans interested in seeing the 2009 BYU football team during Fall Camp are invited to attend three practices that will be open to the general public.

The first open practices are scheduled for the first day of two-a-days on Friday, Aug. 14, with both the 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. practices being open to the public. The 5 p.m. practice will be open to help those who may otherwise have difficulty attending during the day.

The team's practice on Tuesday, Aug. 18 will also be open to the public. The practice on the 18th begins at 10 a.m.and is the same day of the annual Cougar Kickoff event held to meet the team that evening at 6 p.m. Taking place during Education Week, the practice on the 18th also provides fans attending the annual campus event with opportunity to see the team.

All practices will be held on the team practice field, which is located just north of the Student Athlete Building. Fans are reminded that the use of video or camera equipment, including cell phone cameras, is not permitted during practice sessions.

PROVO, Utah (July 31, 2009) - The Mountain West Conference has released the league schedule for BYU men's basketball along with the games televised by MWC broadcast partners CBS College Sports Network (CBS C), VERSUS and The Mtn.

BYU will host 19 games at the Marriott Center in 2009-10, including the Cougar Tipoff, exhibition play, the nonconference schedule and the conference schedule. Season tickets, which also include a neutral site game at Energy Solutions Arena, start at just $75 and go on sale beginning Aug. 1. The Cougar Tipoff is scheduled for Oct. 28 and will be followed by home exhibitions against Trinity Western (Nov. 5) and Central Washington (Nov. 10).

The Cougars open conference play on Jan. 6 against UNLV (The Mtn.) in the Marriot Center. After stepping out of MWC action for a matchup with UTEP on Jan. 9 in El Paso, Texas, BYU will play at Air Force (The Mtn.) on Jan. 13.

Colorado State (The Mtn.) and Wyoming (The Mtn.) come to the Marriott Center on Jan. 16 and 20, respectively. The Cougars then play two-straight on the road at San Diego State (The Mtn.) on Jan. 23 and at New Mexico (The Mtn.) on Jan. 27. The first half of the conference schedule concludes with home games against Utah (The Mtn.) on Jan. 30 and TCU (The Mtn.) on Feb. 2.

The second round of conference play starts with BYU visiting UNLV (VERSUS) on Feb. 6 and then hosting Air Force (The Mtn.) on Feb. 13. Games at Colorado State (The Mtn.) on Feb. 17 and Wyoming (The Mtn.) on Feb. 20 precede a pair of home matchups at the Marriott Center. San Diego State (CBS C) will play at the Marriott Center on either Feb. 23 or 24 followed by New Mexico (VERSUS) on Feb. 27.

BYU's conference schedule concludes with road games at Utah (CBS C) on March 3 and at TCU (The Mtn.) on March 6. The MWC Basketball Championship Tournament will be held in Las Vegas from March 10 to 13. The Mtn., CBS C and VERSUS will broadcast games at the Tournament.
