I'm not starting to think that I should be more afraid of campers with guns than I am bears when I go camping. Since my parents never camped, I am one of those people who can't sleep in a tent in the wilderness. Nevertheless, I do go camping once or twice a year with my husband and boys because they love it. I lay frozen in my sleeping bag listening to every sound outside the tent praying we won't get eaten by a bear. I know it's a ridiculous fear because bears don't often eat people and we're more likely to get killed in the car on our way to the campsite. That doesn't help me sleep. This week's news that a camper shot a bear, has left me wondering just how many Utahans take a gun with them when they go camping. What do you think? It might be that I'm in more danger from campers with guns than I would ever be from a bear.
P.S. This isn't an anti-gun blog, it's just a thought.
