SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah defensive coordinator Gary Andersen has taken himself out of consideration for the coaching job at Idaho State.

Andersen interviewed at Idaho State last week, but decided over the weekend to stay at Utah.

"The future of the University of Utah football team is extremely bright. My family and I love the Utes and Salt Lake City and want to stay here," Andersen said in a statement.

The Division I-AA Bengals are searching for a replacement for Larry Lewis, who was fired after a 2-9 season.
