Andrew Adams ReportingA mall Santa is out on his ear after a woman in Utah County claims he said some inappropriate things to her 13-year-old daughter.
There are some things you can do to ensure you don't bring in a bad Santa's helper.
Shawn Garner has been asking kids what they want for Christmas for four years now and he has never made anyone's naughty list.
Shawn Garner: "You're representing Santa Clause that kids believe in worldwide, so you just be on your top behavior."
He says that he understands he's in a position of trust and realizes not all of Santa's helpers are so well intentioned.
Shawn Garner: "I would highly suggest doing a background check."
West Valley Police Captain, Tom McLachlan, also says references are great. "When you shake hands doing business, you always count your fingers after you're done."
He says if you know Santa, even better.
And he says it's always good to keep an eye on what people are doing around you're children.
