The Tuna played "catch and release" with former BYU QB John Beck, but after being cast aside by Bill Parcells and the Miami Dolphins, Beck has found a new home with the Baltimore Ravens.

Earlier today, Beck concluded his OTAs with the Ravens, and I talked to him about his experience in Baltimore, his two years with the Dolphins and his excitement about participating in a second year of the APX/Next Level Football Camp, sponsored in part by KSL Television.

You can hear my interview with John by clicking his audio link in the "Cougar Cuts" box to the right.

In it, you will hear him talk about being on "the outs" with Parcells, an "awkward" second season in Miami, choosing the Ravens, re-connecting with old high school teammate (and Ravens TE) Todd Heap, and even a few words about BYU recruit Jake Heaps.

Young football players can join Beck and a bevy of former Cougars at one of three camp sessions in early July. Details on the camp including a registration link can be found by clicking here.

By the way, I forgot to ask John about it in the interview, but I asked him afterward how it was he got his old BYU #12 back. He wore #9 in Miami and was initially given #9 in Baltimore (you can see many Ravens practice photo with him wearing #9).

Anyway, he tells me that he had to pay to get his old number from "the person who had it last year." John says he "got it for a good deal" because he "guaranteed the money...cash in his hand the next day."

WR Ernie Wheelwright wore #12 last season for Baltimore, and has since switched to #17.

Here's a nice Indianapolis Star newspaper article on Colts rookie Austin Collie.
