SALT LAKE CITY -- A new exhibit at Hogle Zoo aims to help parents and children battle cold and flu bugs.
Nurse Jean Grabeel with the National Association of School Nurses says the public typically thinks of colds and flu hitting in the winter months, but now is the time for parents to be aware and prepared.
The association says last year, nearly 70 percent of student illnesses happened during the off-school season.
It reminds parents that there are things to do to keep children from getting sick year 'round, like frequently washing their hands and covering their nose and mouth when they cough or sneeze.
That's the premise behind Hogle Zoo's new exhibit called the Kleenex "Battle of the Bug." It includes several games like "Whack the Bug," and a bug cage where kids can "catch" simulated germs.
The exhibit runs Thursday through Sunday.
