SEATTLE, Nov 22, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A Washington State lawyer lost in the winter woods of Snoqualmie National Forest made a lucky find -- a pair of yellow rain pants she used to signal help.

Cindy Wysocki had tried and failed to attract rescuers' attention after two nights alone in the woods, she told KOMO-AM, Seattle. Then it occurred to her that she had something large and bright to wave.

"I was just really glad that they were there, because I was thinking that this next night was going to be a really hard time," Wysocki said.

Wysocki and two friends planned a 5-hour snowshoe trek when they set out on Saturday. When they reached Melakwa Lake, she began feeling cold and decided to start back.

Some time later, she realized she was on the wrong trail.

Wysocki said she was always aware she could die but decided not to expend energy in panicking. Instead, she kept moving as much as possible.

When she found the rain pants, she thought of them at first as additional clothing -- only later converting them into a banner that was seen by a search crew in a helicopter.
