NEW YORK, Nov 20, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Two-time Tony award winner Donna Murphy has been chosen to headline in the epic romantic musical "LoveMusik" on Broadway this coming spring.

Playbill reported Monday that Hal Prince would direct the musical that will also co-star Michael Cerveris, another Tony award winning actor.

Cerveris will play Kurt Weill, the German-born American leading composer for the stage and Murphy will play his wife, Lotte Lenya, a singer and actress from Vienna who was the most prolific "voice" for Weill's work.

The musical is based on "Speak Low (When You Speak Love), The Letters of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya," the 554-page tome that was published by the Berkeley: University of California Press in 1996.

Prior to "LoveMusik," Murphy will take a brief turn as Phyllis in the City Center Encores production of "Follies." Murphy will be part of a large cast supporting headliner Victoria Clark in the Feb. 8-11 concert staging of "Follies," the 1970s Stephen Sondheim-James Goldman musical.
