I hear all of the speculation. . . is this President Obama's wiley attempt to get rid of a 2012 rival? Is this Governor Huntsman's attempt to position himself for the White House in 2016? I am sure I will sound naive, but for me, I interpreted the Governor's decision as meeting what he saw as a duty to serve. When the President of the United States calls and asks for your service, for Jon Huntsman, there is no debate. There is only "Yes."
It seems to me that many others would have put party first. They would have found excuses to not heed the call when, in truth, they just didn't want to serve the president of an opposing party. Not Governor Huntsman. When he is called, he heeds the call. Period.
And that is something I find admirable.
