This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
Cache County is home to small businesses with long, proud histories, as well as several large national and international companies. Engrained in the Cache County business community is Baer Welding. This year the Providence-based company is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
A. Lex Baer founded Baer Welding in 1959. Prior to starting the company, Lex had been splitting his time between teaching at the Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City and doing welding projects out of his garage. His quality of work spoke for itself, and soon he had so many work requests that he formed a company to do the work full-time.
Today, Lex's grandson Brian Baer runs the company. Baer Welding's roots are in ornamental iron work such as railings, staircases, fencing and security gates. However, the business has expanded to accommodate all types of commercial and residential fabrication. Welding processes have changed over the years, but technology has helped the business run much more efficiently. Lex is mostly retired but finds ways to stay involved as much as possible.
Some of the company's recent projects include providing all the steel structure, railings and stairs for three new housing complexes and a parking garage at Utah State University; building the exterior fencing and railing for the Rexburg Temple; providing the steel stairs and railings for the Rio Tinto Soccer Stadium in Sandy; and providing the fencing, gates and trellis for the new LDS Church History Library in downtown Salt Lake City.
Brian says his grandfather still remains emphatic about quality and customer service. Since he purchased the company in 2005, Brian has worked hard to build upon the sound reputation Lex established. Competition is stiff in the current economic climate, but Brian says Baer Welding's diverse range of services, outstanding customer loyalty and unparalleled quality and service help the company continue to thrive.
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
