The author who inspired the movie CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN has died in Fresno, California. She was 98.

ERNESTINE GILBRETH CAREY's memoir about life in a family of 12 children inspired a number of Hollywood films, including 1950's Cheaper by the Dozen, it's 2003 remake and last year's (05) sequel.

Carey wrote Cheaper by the Dozen with her brother FRANK GILBRETH in the 1940s. It became a bestseller in 1948. (KL/WNWCCNN/IG)
