Press ReleaseLINCOLN, Neb. -- It will be Utah against the Southeastern Conference tomorrow in the NCAA Super Six team finals, but the Utes almost didn't get to crash the party.
Utah finished its preliminary session in a tie for third place with UCLA and earned its place in the Super Six team finals via a tiebreaker. Advancing with Utah are Georgia, Florida and LSU from the early session, and Alabama and Arkansas from session two.
UCLA and Utah, which both counted a fall on one event, and had a non-counting fall on another, finished tied with a 196.625. The Utes won on the first tiebreaker--which involves counting all 24 scores. Utah's total was a 234.650 to a 234. 575 by the Bruins.
Alabama won the meet with a 197.025, followed by Arkansas (196.950).
Kristina Baskett finished second in the all-around -- the only competition determined on the first day -- behind Georgia's Courtney Kupets. Baskett scored a 39.60 to Kupets' 39.80.
