SALT LAKE CITY - The match-ups are set for Thursday's semifinals in the Mountain West Conference Soccer Championship, hosted by the University of Utah at Ute Field.
UNLV, which defeated Wyoming 1-0 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, takes on No. 2 seed and 19th-ranked BYU in the first game at 4:30 p.m. (MST). Utah, ranked 10th in the nation and the tournament's No. 1 seed, hosts New Mexico in the second game at 7:00 p.m. (MST). The Lobos and San Diego State were tied 1-1 after two overtime periods in Wednesday's late quarterfinal game. New Mexico won the shootout 4-3 to advance.
The Utes are 14-4-0 overall and won the Mountain West Conference regular-season title with a 7-0-0 record. They have won 10 games in a row with the last nine victories coming via shutout. Utah's current winning streak is the longest in school history.
The winners of Thursday's semifinals advance to the title game on Saturday at noon at Ute Field. All-session tickets for the MWC Soccer Championship are on sale at the Utah Athletics Ticket Office at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Tickets may also be purchased by phone at (801) 581-UTIX or online at www.UtahTickets.com. Single-session tickets will be available on game day at the Ute Field Ticket Office, which opens one hour prior to the first game each day.
The MWC Women's Soccer Championship semifinal rounds will be televised live at 4:30 and 7 p.m. (MST) on the mtn. Saturday's championship game will be aired via tape delay nationally on CSTV at 9:00 p.m. (MST).
