SYDNEY, Nov 1, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue has compared enduring chemotherapy for breast cancer to living through an "atomic explosion."
The 38-year-old singer underwent a partial mastectomy and six months of chemotherapy as part of her breast cancer treatment.
"It's like a prison sentence," she said. "I can't quite articulate it. It's a bit like being in an atomic explosion and people asking you to describe it: 'So, exactly how big is the hole?'
"I don't think anyone who hasn't had it can understand it," she said.
Minogue credits her boyfriend, French actor Olivier Martinez, with playing an integral part in her recovery -- to the point that she is set to resume her "Showgirl" tour next week, The Sun reported.
"Olli was there all the time, helping with practical stuff and being protective," Minogue said. "He didn't hesitate in canceling work and putting projects on hold so he could be with me."
