Belgium's world No. 2 Justine Henin-Hardenne said she is feeling optmistic of competing in the upcoming Madrid Masters after a recent comeback from injury.
Henin-Hardenne has finally fired some shots in anger after going back to the courts this week in her native Belgium to train for the November 7-12 event.
The Olympic champion, who had been suffering from a tear on her right calf muscle, has not played since pulling out of the final of the Fed Cup when Belgium lost to Italy on September 17.
She is now hoping to put that setback behind her, and could end the season by taking back the world number one spot from France's Amelie Mauresmo in the Spanish capital.
"It's too soon to say whether I'll be at the Masters or not, but I'm optimistic," the Belgian said on her website.
"In tennis terms, I will be ready - there's no worries in that department.
"But I need to find my rhythm and fitness again."
Henin-Hardenne missed the last two editions of the Masters, which features the world's top eight players, because of injury.
