This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
If you are familiar with Cabela's, the giant hunting, fishing and camping store, you know it is a shopping paradise for men. Let me tell you about a shopping paradise for women: Tai Pan Trading in Sandy, Clearfield, St. George and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
This giant public wholesale home décor store is an importer of upscale home accessories and is a huge favorite of designers, interior decorators and just about everyone seeking to beautify their homes and surroundings. The term "wholesale" is not a gimmick; everything in the store is sold at wholesale prices.
I really enjoyed my visit with Tai Pan's chief executive officer Nick Stewart and president Bruce McAllister. This popular shopping destination began about 28 years ago as a wholesale floral supplier. It was a small operation with two registers and no parking. As their showroom business grew, Nick and Bruce decided to change direction by expanding their inventory and showroom, and appealing directly to the public.
They opened their first store in Sandy in 2005. It has a giant showroom with more than 75,000 square feet of space for displays and merchandise. Tai Pan also operates a 105,000-square-foot distribution center in Salt Lake City and in November 2006, residents of Weber and Davis counties gained the Tai Pan Trading experience closer to home when the business opened another huge store in Clearfield. In 2007, the St. George store opened, and in 2008, another location opened in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
Tai Pan truly provides a destination shopping experience. Carloads of shoppers arrive from all 50 states and spend hours browsing through the many items that can beautify and equip a home.
Tai Pan Trading provides great value, a myriad of choices, fine service and an exciting and fun shopping experience.
