The Utah Blaze announce the acquisition of fullback/linebacker FRANK CARTER (6-2, 260, MacMurray) from the Nashville Kats. In exchange, the Blaze give up defensive back THAL WOODS (5-9, 175, Colorado State) and defensive lineman TIM MC GILL (6-2, 324, Illinois).
"Frank is an impact player," said Blaze head coach and general manager DANNY WHITE. "He is an All-Arena caliber player on both sides of the ball and we are excited to have him on our roster. Believe me, quarterbacks will know where he is at all times."
As a member of the Las Vegas Gladiators from 2002-2005, Carter evolved into one of the best rushers in Gladiator history. Carter ended his 2004 season with 36 rushing attempts for 132 yards and 10 touchdowns. Terms of the contract were not disclosed due to team policy.
"Steve is one of the top linemen in the game and definitely the best out on the free agent market," said Blaze head coach and general manager DANNY WHITE. "He has a motor that doesn't stop and will give us a tremendous boost up front. We are excited to have him playing on our side instead of lining up against us."
Fans might remember Konopka blocked STEVE VIDETICH's 34-yard field goal with 11 seconds remaining in the 49-47 loss to the Gladiators at the Delta Center on May 24.
