(KSL News) -- Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in adults over age 60. Now the National Institutes of Health is recruiting people for a new study.
They want to see whether a combination of vitamins, minerals and fish oil can slow the progression of vision loss.
Previous studies have shown high-dose anti-oxidant vitamins reduced the risk of advanced macular degeneration by 25 per cent. They are looking for four thousand adults who have macular degeneration in both eyes.. or severe disease in one eye. The Moran Eye Center is one of the locations participating in the study .
