(KSL News) -- The Federal Communications Commission is recommending local phone companies be required to let customers switch their home or business numbers to wireless phones starting on November 24th.
The FCC has already ruled that as of that date, cell phone carriers must allow customers to take their cell phone numbers with them if they switch carriers.
But there is a caveat on home number "portability." The wired phone you want to switch would have to be in the wireless carrier's local calling area. Meaning you couldn't take the number to a cell provider across the country.
Local phone companies are resisting the move.
