(KSL News) -- AT&T is being called for an alleged do-not-call violation.
Federal regulators say the company made 78 phone calls to consumers who wanted to be left alone by telemarketers.
In a statement the company says respecting do-not-call requests is a "high priority", and it suggests the calls may not have come from AT&T. But it could be fined nearly 800-thousand dollars.
FCC Chairman Michael Powell says the enforcement action demonstrates the government's resolve in "the fight to protect consumers from unwanted and intrusive telephone calls."
