(KSL News) -- Rumors surrounding your cell phone number falling into the hands of a telemarketer seem to be falling apart.
Government and cellphone industry officials say there is no "list" of cellphone numbers being turned over to telemarketers, and that solicitors are still banned from calling cell numbers.
The recent surge in concern was sparked by emails alerting people, falsely, that their cell numbers were going to be sold to telemarketing firms.
