OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- Shawn Woods passed for two touchdowns and 177 yards in Weber State's 26-21 victory over Northern Colorado Thursday.
Trevyn Smith rushed for more than 100 yards and a touchdown for the second time this season.
The Wildcats (2-3, 1-1) held off a second-half charge from Northern Colorado, a newcomer to the Big Sky Conference. UNC (1-4, 0-2) scored three touchdowns in the second half -- the final from Andre Wilson with less than three minutes remaining cut the deficit to just five.
The Bears recovered their onside kick on the next play, but were unable to gain a first down.
Weber State had 359 yards of total offense, a breakthrough for the Wildcats who averaged just 10 points a game before Thursday.
WSU scored a pair of early touchdowns -- on a 26-yard run by Marky Filipe and a 76-yard catch by Tim Toone -- to take a 12-0 lead in the first. Both touchdowns were the result of UNC turnovers.
Bryant Eteuati added to the lead just before the half, with a 33-yard touchdown catch.
The Bears got on the board in the third quarter, when Patrick Ealy ran for a 27-yards in a fourth-and-one. They added another touchdown on a 3-yard run by quarterback Dominic Breazeale in the fourth.
