Recreating in Utah is becoming a bit more expensive.  On December 1st, a new fee was implemented to park at many developed recreation sites within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.  Big Cottonwood Canyon, Logan Canyon, the Ladders Inlet and Chicken Creek East Fishing Sites at Strawberry are just a few that, as of December 1st, will require a recreation fee for you to use.  The fee is ten dollars per vehicle for a three day pass, twenty dollars for a seven day pass, an annual pass for sixty dollars or you can purchase the America the Beautiful Pass that covers all National Parks and forests. These fees are part of the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act that allows the Forest Service to retain the revenue collected at these recreation sites to improve a visitors experience, such as restroom maintenance, trail and campground improvements, historic structure enhancements, education and visitor interpretation programs. Outdoor enthusiasts will also see many other popular sites within the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest that will be charging a fee come May and June of next year.  Below is a link to the press release and the recreation fee changes at popular trailheads and sites, so you can plan accordingly for your next outdoor adventure.
