SALT LAKE CITY — After several years of a rebuild, the Utah Jazz have made a major move.
The Jazz are sending rookie Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and three first-round picks in the future to Memphis, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
In return, the Jazz get a proven star in forward Jaren Jackson Jr., John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr.
The Utah Jazz has yet to officially confirm the trade.
Jackson was second on the team in scoring for Memphis, averaging 19.2 points, as well as 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists as a two-time All-Star, including last season. The Jazz also get another consistent scorer in Landale, who averaged 11.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Utah offloads several bench players who didn't factor into the season much — many of which have potential — to Memphis as the team gets proven players who can contribute immediately and help the Jazz; however, it remains to be seen the direction the organization will pursue with the trade.
The move also signals a full rebuild for Memphis, who is also reportedly looking to trade star Ja Morant, as it acquires several young players while accumulating 13 first-round picks over the next seven seasons.
