SALT LAKE CITY — It was the Kamden Lopati show Friday night in Salt Lake City after a commanding 63-0 West win over West Jordan.

Lopati threw for six touchdowns and added another on the ground for a stat-stuffing kind of night. The Illinois commit, though, credited everything to his head coach.

"We practice as hard as we can, week in and week out," Lopati said. "Coach keeps us really focused and prepared. The season's been great so far, and I'm just happy we could get this win for our fans here at home."

West (7-1) has averaged 64.1 points per game this season and has scored 60+ in five straight games.

"Really happy with the way they came out and executed early. We knew West Jordan has some good players, so it was nice to see the competition early," head coach Olossa Solovi said. "We definitely didn't expect the score to get to that, but to see the guys take it one play at a time, it was good."

Six different receivers scored for the Panthers, but Solovi said he expects nights like Friday with his star quarterback

"He's a high-profile guy, highly recruited and we expect him to play at a high level," Solovi said. "We're excited and excited for him. We've had a couple blowouts, so he hasn't been out there as much, so I was happy he was able to stay out there tonight."

The Panthers' return game was dynamic despite multiple muffed catches by Lester Falatea, but Solovi said he believes he can do something special this year.

"He might be able to break the record. He's had a great return in every game this year," Solovi said. "We really trust Lester; he's done a heck of a job this year."

Falatea came close to adding to his three returned touchdowns this year, which included two in a 66-7 win over Hunter on Sept. 5. Trenton Ludlow of Canyon View holds the record with four returned touchdowns set in 2024.

West (7-1) travels to Granger (6-2) next week in a showdown in region play.

"We know that Granger is super talented; they've got a lot of great pieces there," Solovi said "We're just going to enjoy this one tonight and get ready for the next one."
