ROY — The driver accused of hitting a woman in Roy before fleeing the scene Tuesday has turned himself or herself in, police said.

Roy police and emergency crews responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the area of 3100 West and 4800 South shortly before 9:45 a.m. They found a 51-year-old woman with injuries in a yard outside of a home, said Roy Police Sgt. Josh Taylor.

Taylor said the driver of a dark charcoal Toyota RAV4 went over a curb and hit the woman before leaving the scene. The woman, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. It wasn't immediately clear if the woman lived at the home where police responded.

Roy police posted images of the vehicle on Tuesday afternoon. A few hours later, police updated their post: "Thank you for all of your comments and shares! The driver has turned themselves in and is cooperating with our investigators."
