CEDAR CITY — American Pacific Corporation officially broke ground on Tuesday on a $100 million expansion project that is expected to increase its production capacity by more than 50%.

At American Pacific's headquarters and manufacturing facility located northwest of Cedar City at the northern end of Iron Springs Road, company officials and employees were joined by local elected officials and civic leaders for a groundbreaking ceremony.

As he welcomed those in attendance, American Pacific Corporation President Kris Griffith reflected on his 24-plus years with the company.

Griffith noted that the expansion would help the company meet growing market demand for solid rocket motors while continuing to support the company's mission of supporting the nation's security and defense.
