After being rescued from a dogfighting ring, a kitten was saved by a rescuer in California who helped him become his cuddliest self.
Megan Mannarelli-Martin, of Wonky Hearts Animal Haven, found Moo as a kitten who had been abandoned and covered in crusted-over paint. She believes he was a victim of a dogfighting ring, where people use kittens as bait by dyeing or painting their fur bright colors.
"His skin was peeling, and it was crusting off of him. He was skin and bones, malnourished and frail," Mannarelli-Martin said in a video on The DoDo' YouTube channel.
The animal rescue team worked hard to help Moo recover, feeding him and giving him more than a dozen baths with cat-safe oil to remove the paint. After a few days, the care team decided to trim his fur down as much as possible.
"I've had to hold back my emotions a lot. It took six hours to get all of it off without hurting him. He perked right back up," Mannarelli-Martin said.
Once he was safe and clean, Moo became the "happiest," most "full of life kitten."
"As energetic as he was, he was just as cuddly and affectionate. He is a snuggle bug. If you are somebody who needs to feel loved and held, he is that teddy bear," Mannarelli-Martin said.
Moo is now a strong and healthy 10-month-old cat with luscious fur. He is up for adoption and looking for a loving home, according to Wonky Hearts Animal Haven.
"He is the biggest cuddler. It's incredible and amazing, and I am so grateful," she said.
