ST. GEORGE — Authorities have arrested a St. George man accused of fatally shooting a man last week in Colorado City, Arizona. The victim has been identified as Travis Lee Cooke, a Colorado City resident in his 50s, who died at the scene after being found with multiple gunshot wounds.

James Elroy Nielsen, 27, has been identified as the suspect who shot the man to death, Lt. Mark Gower, with the Colorado City-Hildale Police Departmen, told St. George News during an interview on Wednesday.

Nielsen is currently being held at Purgatory Correctional Facility on a warrant issued out of North County Justice Court in Colorado City on April 25.

Additional details will be released as the investigation progresses. Nielsen will remain in custody in Washington County while extradition arrangements are pending.
