Utah brothers Peter and Mark Rane simply could not find a pillow they liked. There were countless options to choose from with different filling materials and levels of support.
Both agreed that each time they tried out a new pillow it was easy to admire the soft materials and assume it would be comfortable. But each time, after a few nights, the aches and pains would return.
Another real problem they noticed were pillows that didn't provide adequate support with the right amount of filling. Regardless of how comfortable the materials would feel at first, they wouldn't sleep well if the pillow wasn't the right height to support body type and sleeping position.
With all of this in mind, Peter and Mark, both product developers, decided to make creating the perfect pillow their next exciting venture.
Historically the two spent the first 15 years of their careers developing products for companies such as Yeti, Lenovo, and Crank Brothers, so this was a challenge they were prepared to tackle.
Product innovation
"It comes down to adjustability. We are all different –– we have our preferences, body types, and preferred sleeping positions. We wanted to be able to use the most comfortable materials possible and still allow for adjustments," says Peter.
After years of testing and development, they invented their patented adjustment system. They determined that a great system included outer layers filled with a luxury down-alternative filling that is extremely comfortable and provides excellent airflow.
But the real magic is in the center of the pillow, accessed through a zipper on the side. There you'll find supportive cubed foam that can be added or removed to adjust the overall height of the pillow — ideal for side sleepers.
The pillow also provides the option to get the cubed foam enclosed in mini-pillows, or Pods as they're called, to allow for positioning the foam for targeted neck support — ideal for anyone with neck pain. For example, you can place the Pods along the front edge of the pillow to support the natural curve of your neck.
