LEEDS, Washington County — Four adults from West Jordan were sent to the hospital Sunday afternoon after their motor home rolled on northbound Interstate 15, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The crash happened north of Leeds around 2:45 p.m., said UHP Lt. Cameron Roden.
"From what is reported to us, the motor home blew a tire, which caused the driver to lose control," he said. "That motor home went into the median and rolled. And as it rolled, that motor home completely came apart."
Those on board were ejected from the vehicle.
He said two occupants were flown to a hospital by medical helicopter due to the severity of their injuries, and the other two were driven.
"At this point in time, the injuries do not appear life-threatening," he said. "They're expecting them to be able to recover from this."
The single-vehicle accident partially closed the northbound left lanes for a few hours due to debris from the motor home. Roden said the freeway was temporarily closed so that medical helicopters could land. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
"I don't know if there's been any type of determination as to what caused the tire blowout," Roden said. "I know that they'll continue to investigate this crash, whether there was something wrong with the tire or whether there was something that they hit in the roadway."
He reminded drivers to stay focused.
"You never know what's going to be happening as you're driving," Roden said. "It's always good to make sure that you have all your focus on driving, just an incident like this, you just can't predict something like this is going to happen."
