LISBON, Portugal — Spain will appear in a men's Rugby World Cup for the first time since 1999 after reaching the Rugby Europe Championship semifinals. Portugal joined the Spanish to achieve back-to-back World Cups in 2027 in Australia. Spain beat Switzerland 43-13 in Yverdon-les-Bains to qualify. The Portuguese beat Germany 56-14 in Lisbon to go two for two in the Rugby Europe Championship, Europe's second-tier competition after the Six Nations. Spain, Portugal, Georgia and Romania have secured the four direct qualifying places from Europe this weekend. There are eight more qualifying spots open around the world.
