WICHITA, Kan. — Madison Chock and Evan Bates matched the U.S. record by winning their sixth ice dance national title on Saturday. It was their fourth consecutive and moved them into a tie with longtime standard-bearers Meryl Davis and Charlie White for most overall. The reigning world champions finished with 223.52 points to outdistance Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko, while Caroline Green and Michael Parsons finished third. Earlier in the day, two-time defending U.S. champion and reigning world champion Ilia Malinin scored 114.08 points for his short program to take a big lead into Sunday's free skate. In the pairs competition, Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanov managed to hold their free skate together and stand atop the podium.
