Iowa QB Cade McNamara announces he'll transfer and seek a 7th season of eligibility

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara announced he's entering the transfer portal and seek an opportunity to play a seventh season. McNamara was plagued by injuries in his two years at Iowa. He started eight games this season and five in 2023. McNamara began his career at Michigan in 2019, started the last game of the 2020 season and all 14 in 2021 as the Wolverines won the Big Ten championship and advanced to the College Football Playoff. He started the 2022 opener for Michigan and didn't play after the third game. He was 9-4 in games he played for Iowa.
