Noskova, Sun advance to Monterrey Open final, with each seeking 1st WTA Tour title

MONTERREY, Mexico — Sixth-seeded Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic beat second-seeded Emma Navarro of the United States 7-6 (7), 7-5 on Friday night to reach the Monterrey Open final. The 19-year-old Noskova will face Lulu Sun of New Zealand on Saturday, with both seeking their first WTA Tour title in the hard-court event at Sonoma Club. Sun beat third-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia 7-5, 3-6 7-6 (6) in the first semifinal. Last week in the Cincinnati Open, Sun beat Noskova 6-4, 7-6 (4) in the round of 64. Noskova was an Australian Open quarterfinalist in January, while the 23-year-old Sun reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals last month to become the first qualifier to get that far since 2010.
