Whether you're in the market for new digs or just looking for some ideas to upgrade your current abode, the Salt Lake Parade of Homes 2024 will give you plenty of eye-popping inspiration. Starting Aug. 2, you can take a tour of 20 showcase homes to see the latest features, colors and decor.

Home sights

From Herriman and Draper to Salt Lake City, you'll see homes with all the trimmings — luxury bathrooms, fanciful theater rooms and serious game rooms (including an indoor basketball court and putting green). Get ideas for cabinetry, backsplashes, fixtures and flooring from big-name Utah builders.

Boring old subway tiles? Not in these kitchens or showers. There's plenty of fancy tilework going on throughout the homes. You may even find the perfect chandelier, thanks to the interior designers who stage each house.

Outside, you'll see unique outdoor spaces, with landscaping and swimming pools that incorporate the view. Home styles range from modern to farmhouse and traditional.

The details

The showcase, presented by the Salt Lake Home Builders Association, runs from Aug. 2-17. The houses are open Tuesday-Saturday, from noon to 9 p.m.

Once the annual event begins, a map with addresses will be available online and on the Salt Lake Parade of Homes app. There will also be a copy in the Parade of Homes magazine, available at each of the properties, which range in price from $500,000 to $4 million.

What's new?

The Salt Lake Parade of Homes, held since 1946, has always been a fun way to see the latest innovations and state-of-the-art amenities. Builders Silver Hawk and Wright Homes are show regulars, in their 12th and 28th years, respectively.

You'll see a variety of properties, including sprawling new builds — up to 8,000 square feet. There's even a completely gutted and remade home from Citizen Builders.

The show is also an ideal opportunity to see recent trends in the housing market. With the growing interest in multigenerational living, Hamlet Homes has a 4,000-plus square-foot entry, with an intentional accessory dwelling unit. Sego Homes built a zero emissions house; instead of gas appliances, the entire home is run on electricity and heat pump technology.

There's also the Milestone Home. It may not be as high-tech or gussied up as the rest, but it has the best story. It's a house that's been renovated to be a transitional home for 18-21 year olds who have been homeless. As part of the Milestone Transitional Living Program, it gives young adults a safe space to learn life skills such as cooking, cleaning and hygiene.

Advance ticket sales

Tickets for the show must be purchased in advance. You can buy them using the mobile app. Or, find them online; they'll be sent to your email, so you can use them immediately. If you prefer to have a physical ticket, they are also available in-person at the Salt Lake HBA offices in Sandy.

Tickets are $25 for ages 3 and up. They are good for the duration of the show, so you can try to see all the houses in a couple of days or spread it out over the entire two weeks. Need another look at a favorite? Your ticket lets you go back a second time into two different homes, or twice more into one house.
