SAINT-QUENTIN-EN-YVELINES, France — Caddies don't win medals at the Olympics, only the golfers do. That didn't stop Tokyo gold medalist Xander Schauffele from giving his caddie and longtime friend Austin Kaiser some gold. It came in the form of a ring that he presented to Kaiser at the end of 2021. Kaiser says he teared up when the Schauffele family gave him the ring. He says the family realized how important winning the Olympics was to him. Kaiser is indifferent about caddies getting medals. It was a brief debate when golf returned to the Olympics in 2016 but hasn't been talked about much since then.
