PARIS — Ethiopian-born Dutch runner Sifan Hassan isn't going to attempt only to defend her 5,000- and 10,000-meter titles at the Olympics. She'll also push herself in the ultimate test of endurance by adding the marathon to her program at the Paris Games. She says that "I can't tell you I'm going to get the gold medal in every event." She adds that "it is very hard." Hassan could match Czech runner Emil Zatopek's exploit from 1952 when he swept the three events at the Helsinki Games.
