NANTERRE, France — Palestinian swimmer Yazan Al Bawwab had nobody among his close circle in the stands supporting him as he wrapped up his second and final Olympics. His father always wanted to be an Olympic swimmer but had to leave Palestine. So Al Bawwab raced for him and in the memory of everyone special in his life killed during the Israel-Hamas war. He spoke after his race in no official capacity and as one of eight athletes representing the territories in these Paris Games, each with their own perspectives and experiences.
