INDIANAPOLIS — A new era of Big Ten football kicked off Wednesday when first-year UCLA coach DeShaun Foster and Southern California coach Lincoln Riley took the podium inside Lucas Oil Stadium. Both stepped up to the microphone as their school fight songs played. They were joined by new Michigan State coach Jonathan Smith, who also made the jump from the Pac-12 to Michigan State. And now, the real transition begins. The coaches from the previous Big Ten members are now figuring out how to deal with the travel. Some hope to welcome the California schools for November football games.
